First Impressions My first impressions of the new Smith & Wesson M&P9 Performance Center Ported Shield Pistol were very positive. The Shield was originally introduced in 2012 and has already proved to be a great, single stack pistol for those wanting a smaller profile for conceal and carry purposes. The addition of the new sights and smooth trigger pull on this Performance Center model are immediately noticeable. Without shooting the pistol, the first impression of the ported slide and barrel is more along the lines of "cool" and I will have to see if it makes a real difference at the range.
